Your membership in u3a Waiheke includes your membership in any or all of these groups. There is no additional fee.
Waiheke u3a supports the creation of Study Groups’ and Shared Interest Groups within its branch. The two types of groups are broadly similar and distinguished by the approach the group uses to explore a topic.
- A Study Group approach tends to resemble a university-oriented methodology with individual members contributing to understanding of a specific topic through their own research and reporting back to the group.
- A Shared Interest Group is free to engage more informally on a broader subject matter of shared collegiality.

Each group tends to meet monthly, from February to December. Notes or minutes of the meetings are sent to the Study Group Coordinator Mary Webb (mez@xtra.co.nz, 021 65658) who reports to the Steering Committee. Mary also organises groups to give a short presentation update to u3a members at one of the monthly General Meetings.
We welcome proposals from members who would like to meet and pursue subjects in a learning environment with other colleagues. Suggestions for forming a new group can be made to any committee member, who will raise it at the next Steering Committee meeting.
