Cosmology and Physical Sciences

The Group’s aim is to study the universe’s origins, evolution, and ultimate fate in the context of the physical sciences. Cosmology encompasses a wide range of topics, from the birth of the universe to its large-scale structure. Central concepts include the Big Bang theory, the cosmic microwave background radiation, dark matter, and dark energy—unknown substances that account for most of the universe’s mass and energy. It also investigates phenomena such as black holes, galaxy formation, and the behaviour of light in the fabric of space.
